Traditional Portuguese treats on Dundas West
Since 1991, Nova Era Bakery has been serving up Portuguese baked goods at a price that is good for the wallet and dangerous to the waistline. Started by Joe Dias, the Dias family has maintained traditional methods for making handmade bread, pastries, and cakes all while providing a laid-back, sit-down environment with sense of community for their loyal patrons in Little Portugal.
Among the portfolio of baked goods is Portugal’s most popular pastry – the Pastel de Nata, or Portugese custard tart. Nova Era’s tart has been ranked as one of the best in Toronto and we can see why – I mean, just look at them.
Since opening, the menu has expanded to provide sandwiches, soups, and salads. One cannot live off of tarts alone after all! A tried and true favourite is the traditional Portugese Tosta Mista which is a grilled ham and cheese sandwich.
Whether you are a connoisseur of flavourful pastries or are on the hunt for classic lunch fare, Nova Era is the place to indulge.
Are you a fan of baked goods? Silly question, of course you are! Check out our Pastry Crawl for a sweet taste of the city!
